Rachel Giffin

At 12 years old Rachel won a prestigious scholarship to study dance and a place at Ballet Rambert. Professional performances include the E.N.O. at the Coliseum and the BBC. Her search to increase strength and stamina led her to yoga, a practice that ebbed and flowed in and out of her life for 20 years before she started teaching.

Following her dance career, Rachel went on to a highly successful career in London in marketing and communications, which saw her building and selling her own creative agency by the age of 23 and culminated in running the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation for President Gorbachev raising funds for children with cancer from 2006 to 2009.

After travelling to India in 2009, the practice and philosophy of yoga became a priority and Rachel decided the desk had to go and immersed herself in an ashram to begin her teacher training. In the process she found her true vocation in life and is now a certified Sivananda teacher, given the name Meenakshi by her gurus. Whilst being guided by the principles of Sivananda, her love of movement means Rachel continues to explore many styles of yoga with a dynamic, flowing energy, all of which she pours into her students every week as she continues on her yoga journey and has led to certification in the Jivamukti method of yoga with the completion of a 300-hr teacher training course in June 2014.

Rachel created Pure Balance Yoga as a means to bring peace and good health to her students; she is the yoga teacher for Google, many large companies and individuals in the film and finance sector and Sweaty Betty ambassador. She is also a qualified hula-hoop instructor and loving mother to a one-year old Frenchton puppy called Byron.
